The City of Victoria Convention & Visitors Bureau earned two Destination Excellence awards from the Texas Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus in recognition of its mobile passport programs that encourage residents to support local businesses.

The CVB earned first place in the leisure/tourism marketing campaign category for Yule Love Shopping!, a promotion that invites residents to check in at local retailers during the holiday shopping season. No purchase is necessary, and each check-in earns residents an entry into a drawing to win a gift basket filled with items from local retailers.

The CVB also earned a peer award in the community/local engagement promotion category for the Tacos & Margs Trail!, a new promotion that invites residents to check in when dining at Mexican restaurants in Victoria to earn points that may be redeemed for prizes such as koozies and stickers. Participants are also eligible for a quarterly drawing for a larger prize.

Joel Novosad“The Bandwango mobile pass platform has helped us to expand the ways that we encourage residents to engage with their community,” said Convention & Visitors Bureau Director Joel Novosad. “We’re thankful for our local partnerships and for our residents and visitors who have chosen to support local businesses.”
