Victoria Metropolitan Planning Organization approves 25-year transportation plan

Victoria TX 2045

The Victoria Metropolitan Planning Organization approved at its Thursday meeting the 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan, a document that prioritizes federal funding and establishes goals and priorities for improving transportation within Victoria County.

The MTP outlines transportation projects through the year 2045, which is required to obtain federal funding for those projects. The long-range transportation plan is updated every five years based on new data and public input. Mobility is identified as a priority in the City of Victoria’s comprehensive Plan 2035, and the approval of the MTP ensures that Victoria County will receive funding to meet transportation needs presented by future growth and development.

Also at the meeting, the MPO approved the Transportation Improvement Program, a short-range plan that sets a four-year schedule for those projects listed in the MTP, for fiscal years 2021 to 2024.
