O’Connor Elementary School student wins City coloring contest

Amaya Celine Alvarez, a third-grade student at O’Connor Elementary School, is the winner of a coloring contest hosted by the City of Victoria for Public Service Recognition Week (May 1-7). First- to third-grade students from Aloe Elementary School, Chandler Elementary School, Crossroads Christian School, Mission Valley Elementary School, Nazareth Academy, O’Connor Elementary School, Our Lady of Victory School and Schorlemmer Elementary School participated in the contest. Amaya received a goody bag from the City. Shown, from left, are Ronnica Narvaez, O’Connor Elementary School art teacher; Amaya; Peter Alvarez, Amaya’s father; and Jayla Akin, Victoria Public Library assistant, who helped to coordinate the coloring contest. All of the coloring pages were displayed at City facilities during Public Service Recognition Week.
