On November 19, 2010, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided our community with preliminary copies of the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) Report for Victoria County, Texas, and incorporated areas. On April 30, 2020, FEMA released the revised FIRM panels and FIS Report for Victoria County, Texas and incorporated areas.
The Lone Tree Creek Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) is part of the Lone Tree Creek Channel Improvement and Detention Facility Project funded through 2000 general obligation (GO) bonds and completed in 2009.
This project consisted of improving the drainage channel from John Stockbauer Drive to Airline Road as well as the construction of the detention facility located between Airline Road and Houston Highway. The project was estimated to remove approximately 400 properties from the floodplain.
The final floodplain maps were released by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on March 9, 2012 for the floodplain map boundaries associated with Lone Tree Creek from John Stockbauer Drive to Houston Highway.
The map revision has a positive impact on most of the residential properties along Lone Tree Creek reducing the width of the floodplain, floodway and lowering the base flood elevation.
