The City of Victoria Parks & Recreation hosted its fourth Texas Youth Hunting Program hunt Feb. 2-4 in partnership with the Port of Victoria, the Texas Youth Hunting Program, the Texas Wildlife Association and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Five local youth participated in the hunt, which was hosted on fenced private property owned by the Port of Victoria. Each hunter was allowed to harvest one doe and one buck, along with an unlimited number of hogs, which are an invasive species. In total, the participants harvested five does, four bucks and two hogs. The hunt also included lessons on outdoor safety and conservation from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department game wardens and park rangers, as well as a K-9 demonstration from the Victoria Police Department.
