From left, City of Victoria Municipal Court Operations Supervisor Maria Bell, Victoria Police Department Detectives Kelly Gibbs and Cameron Boyd and Senior Police Officers Sherry Hornstein and Trenton Ballard were recently certified as child passenger safety technicians (CPST) through the Texas Department of State Health Services’ Safe Riders Child Passenger Safety Program. The CPS technician certification is a nationally recognized affirmation that an individual is qualified to educate caregivers about proper installation and use of children’s car seats and booster seats. The employees completed the training required for their certification during the car seat inspection event hosted by the City of Victoria on Sept. 13 at Target. They were also required to pass written exams and additional skills assessments to be certified.
