The City is lifting all mandatory restrictions on water usage after recent rainfall throughout our region helped to replenish the City’s water supply.
The City previously entered Stage II of its drought contingency plan in October 2024. The City is now lifting Stage II restrictions and re-entering Stage One because the Guadalupe River has remained above its low-flow threshold for 14 consecutive days and because the City’s water supply is able to meet demand without the restrictions.
The low-flow threshold is set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and varies depending on the time of year.
Under Stage One of the plan, residents are no longer required to limit their nonessential water usage. However, the City is still encouraging residents to be mindful of their water consumption and practice voluntary conservation measures.
What should residents do to conserve water?
The City of Victoria Public Works shared these water conservation tips:
- Do not over-water your lawn, especially during wet weather. An inch of water per week will keep most Texas grasses healthy.
- Switch to modern appliances that use less water.
- Sign up for the City’s free water monitoring service, WaterWise, to keep track of your water usage and catch hidden leaks and similar issues before they show up on your water bill.
