Keep Victoria Beautiful is inviting residents to take pride in their community and engage in some friendly competition by taking part in the Trash-Off cleanup in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation 8-10 a.m. May 3 at various sites around Victoria.

Groups and individuals are encouraged to register in advance at www.victoriatx.gov/kvb. The number of locations will be determined based on the number of registrations.

Individuals and groups of six or fewer will meet at the Target parking lot, 7608 Zac Lentz Parkway. Larger groups will be assigned to remote locations and will pick up their supplies before the cleanup.

Donuts, coffee and juice will be provided by The Salvation Army. Additional food will be provided by Chick-Fil-A, and drinks will be provided by Del Papa Distributing and Coca Cola SW Beverages.

Additional sponsors for the event are Armstrong Warehouse and Transfer, H-E-B, Townsquare Media, the Victoria Television Group and TxDOT.

KVB will give awards to the most spirited team, the team that picks up the most trash and the team that finds the most unusual item. Winners will be recognized at KVB’s annual volunteer appreciation event.

What’s next for neighborhoods?

Keep Victoria Beautiful will host another citywide cleanup this fall, followed by a neighborhood cleanup Nov. 15 in the F.W. Gross neighborhood.

The previous Keep Victoria Beautiful cleanup in this neighborhood was canceled due to inclement weather.

Prior to the original cleanup date, Keep Victoria Beautiful distributed flyers in the neighborhood inviting residents to leave brush and bulky items at their curbs for pickup. Despite the cancellation, the City of Victoria conducted extra pickups in the neighborhood during the time period indicated by the flyers.

The City serviced a total of 61 homes in the F.W. Gross neighborhood with extra pickups, collecting 11.83 tons of brush and bulky items and 19 tires.

Stay connected

The City of Victoria provides residents with two no-cost bulk trash pickups and four no-cost limb pickups per year. To schedule a pickup, visit www.victoriatx.gov/environmental-services or use the Victoria Texas 311 app.
