“Discover Victoria Birding I-Spy!” is returning to Riverside Park, giving Victoria residents a chance to win prizes while learning about bird species that can be found in Victoria.

Belted kingfisher, a small blue bird with a white neck, red belly and small crestAfter signing up for the mobile passport at www.discovervictoriatexas.com, residents can travel to Riverside Park, where metal cutouts of twelve types of local birds have been placed along a two-mile walking path that starts near the Memorial Rose Garden and ends within the Athey Nature Trail.

Residents can use their cellphones to check in at each of the displays for a chance to win birding-themed prizes. Each check-in location counts as a separate entry. The prize drawing will be held in September.

Joel Novosad“Victoria is in a fantastic location for birding, with more than 200 native and migratory species, and Riverside Park is attractive to birds with its ample space and natural waterway,” said Discover Victoria Texas Director Joel Novosad. “We hope this activity will create some new birders and give residents a fun way to learn about our local wildlife.”

Residents who took part in the previous “Explore Victoria Birding I-Spy!” event in 2023 are eligible for the drawing but must check in using the new mobile passport.

The “Discover Victoria Birding I-Spy!” pass is powered by Bandwango, the same platform that Discover Victoria Texas uses for “Yule Love Shopping Victoria!” and the “Tacos & Margs Trail!”
