Library lovers, local leaders and a few familiar literary figures were invited to mix and mingle during “Librarium Nocturne,” a cocktail party held Sept. 25 in honor of the Victoria Public Library’s 50th anniversary.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, listened to live music, crafted their own bookmarks and bookbags, bid on silent auction items, had their portraits made by a sketch artist, took commemorative photos, recorded their memories for the library’s time capsule, consulted the “book oracle” for reading recommendations and attempted to solve a criminal caper with famous authors as the suspects.
All proceeds from the event benefited the Friends of the Victoria Public Library, which provides funding for the library’s event programming. The Friends of the Library provided the initial seed money for the event.
Sponsors and underwriters for the event were:
Silver sponsors: Chesnick Furniture Co. (Robert B. Leon & Charla Borchers Leon), Monica & Duane Crocker- Bronze sponsors: Appliance Pro, DeTar Healthcare System, Deutsch & Deutsch, Dragon, Monuments of Victoria, Nina & Jeffrey Di Leo, Rhea & Fred Fry, The Inn on Main (Chris & Monica Priddy)
- Underwriters: Stella Artois and Del Papa Distributing Company (bar); Eli, Jennifer & Emiliano Garza (photo booth)
“We’re thankful to the Friends of the Library for hosting this event, as well as our sponsors, underwriters and all of our residents who came out to enjoy the event while supporting the library,” said Victoria Public Library Director Jessica Berger. “It’s been wonderful to see our community come together throughout the past year to celebrate this important milestone for our library.”
