The Victoria Police Department Community Engagement Unit is now accepting applications for Civilian Police Academy Class #46.
About the academy
The Civilian Police Academy is an 11-week program that offers residents an inside look at how the Victoria Police Department functions. Participants will meet officers, learn about various divisions, and experience firsthand elements of police training.
Classes are held Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m., with one additional Saturday session. Class #46 will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026.
What participants will experience
The academy offers presentations and hands-on demonstrations led by VPD officers and staff. Participants will get an up-close look at topics such as building searches, firearms safety, crime scene investigations, traffic stops, K9 tactics, SWAT demonstrations, and more.
How to apply
Class size is limited to 20 participants, and enrollment operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check.
Applications can be picked up at the Community Engagement Office in Victoria Mall, located between Chick-fil-A and Murdoch’s, or downloaded from www.VictoriaPD.com.
The application deadline is Monday, February 2, 2026.
